About Leslie

Leslie is a values-driven professional, whose work is informed by decades of experience and a master’s degree in professional communication.

Leslie offers expertise in the areas of internal/employee communications, communications for large-scale change initiatives, media relations, issues management, and strategic planning and implementation.

In recent years, while pursuing a master’s degree in professional communication, Leslie has provided strategic and communications advice and support for several B.C. clients. Services provided to clients have included the development of communication plans, creating and distributing newsletter, website and social media content, creating presentations, and numerous written materials.

Leslie also frequently collaborates with other experienced, senior communication consultants to provide clients with diverse experience and skillsets.

Leslie is responsive, enthusiastic, and able to produce high quality content, often with tight deadlines. She provides honest advice to clients, backed by decades of experience in all areas of communications.

Prior to establishing a career as a communications professional, Leslie worked as a print and online journalist for several media outlets in B.C.

For the past two decades, Leslie has worked as a communications professional for health-care and academic organizations that include the Insurance Corporation of BC, University of British Columbia, and BC Children’s Hospital.

At the Insurance Corporation of BC, Leslie provided communications advice and support for a $400-million Transformation Project and provided media relations support for the insurance corporation.

At the University of British Columbia, Leslie provided oversight over the proactive media relations strategy for the university. Leslie also provided support for a number of significant issues at the university related to student safety, operational concerns, and reputational issues.

Leslie then led internal and external communications for BC Children’s Hospital and BC Women’s Hospital + Health Centre. A career highlight was coordinating communications for the two hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic.
